I worked with and learned from women's rights organisations. I follow the literature in the field. I am member of the Stop Male Violence Project, which engages men that want to do something against violence against women at a societal level or in their lives. I provide training on intimate partner violence for professionals and help victims get out of abusive relationships. I am a member of a working group for the city of Budapest to create a city-wide protocol for domestic violence cases.
A large number of women and quite a few men need to accept that the perpetrator and not the victim should be ashamed, and to live a life not determined by the trauma (even if you cannot undo the violence).
This can consist of forms already acknowledged by society (e.g. sexual or physical violence), or forms that are more difficult to pinpoint (e.g. emotional or verbal abuse).
Bullying or violence by teachers are two of the possible harming, alienating effects of school.
These problems require personal and collective solutions at the same time.
Psychology recognized in the 1990s that long lasting, low intensity traumatizing processes can cause harm that is difficult to pinpoint or is not acknowledged by society.
I started volunteering for non-governmental organizations working on the social acceptance and equality of LGBT (at that time the list finished with T) people at the age of nineteen. Before I finished psychology I had worked as a volunteer consultant in this area. It continues to be important for me to help people accept their own or their loved one’s sexuality.
Crises about choosing or modifying one’s profession, ending relationships, children growing up, diminished sexual interest, flailing health, etc.
In cases of panicking, sleeping difficulties, constant unhappiness or similar problems it is important to find and change the mechanisms that lead to these symptoms. I do not offer anti-depressants, anxiety reducing or other psychiatric drugs for mid-term pain reduction but suggest primarily exercise and relaxation.
There is practically no man who has never met pornography and whose sexual life has not been negatively influenced by it. Similarly more and more women’s body image and self-worth is determined by advertisements and a public space that are increasingly pornographic.
In the case of alcohol, drug or other addiction, it is necessary to establish practices that contribute to our bodily and mental well-being and can satisfy the needs behind the addiction but do not come with the negative effects of addiction. In addition, these practices should help overcome withdrawal.
Parents without proper childrearing methods, unrealistic social expectations, traumas, abusive partners or bosses can easily harm anyone’s self-esteem, which, of course, affects self-actualization.
People struggling with this problem need help to remain abstinent and find excitement in relationships based on equality.
In addition to individual problems, I pay attention to the social and societal effects that lead to individual suffering. I encourage my clients to form or find communities and relationships based on equality.I pay attention to the bodily aspects of psychological problems.
I strive to be in dialogue with clients: we look for methods alleviating suffering together. I think it is important to have practical consultations that always relate to the client’s situation to be solved.
I measure the usefulness of psychological consultation by whether my client’s situation has improved, has the client been able to establish new ways of behaving outside of the psychologist’s office.
I know that my knowledge is limited to certain areas, therefore I refer clients whose problem lies outside of my competence to another colleague. My work as a psychologist is supervised by a senior colleague, Péter Szil. In addition, I am supported by an intervision group of like-minded colleagues.
I strive to help my clients to discover and change those personal, social, societal, bodily, psychological processes that create and maintain psychological problems. I did not find the Hungarian clinical psychology and therapy training suitable for myself. In these trainings the usual model is that people with a psychological problem are ill and their suffering can be circumscribed by diagnoses, instead of all the of the above.

At Psychologist Online, I offer individual psychology consultation online, or in person at my office in Budapest. I rarely work with children as I prefer to work with parents because often they are in the position to change the reality of the child's life. I do not provide couples therapy, family therapy or group therapy, but if the need arises, I have colleagues to refer you to.
I offer talks and training on domestic violence and equality in relationships.
Instead of the usual 45 to 50 minute sessions, I usually hold double sessions for 1.5 hours.
I usually meet my clients every two weeks. This provides more room to try out new ways of behaviour and relating to others if, hopefully, we arrive at somethig practical at the session.
I charge 80 euros/1.5 hour session. If you have a financial difficulty please contact me to negotiate a special agreement about payment.
Major currencies like USD, GBP or CHF are accepted. Please contact me if you want to pay in another currency.
No, you can only pay by bank transfer. Or in cahs, if we meet in person.
I work in person near Oktogon in central Budapest.
I have a diploma in psychology. I studied one psychotherapy method. However the most useful education has been coming from my supervision and intervision group, where we listen to each other's sessions, read professional literature and discuss the practical and theoretical aspects of our work.
I am not a contractual partner of any insurance company, and under Hungarian law the service I provide does not qualify as health service. The invoice I issue describes the service as consultation or psychology consultation, and my business provides other social care without boarding (egyéb szociális ellátás bentlakás nélkül) under Hungarian tax nomenclature. Please contact your insurance company to find out what kind of invoice they accept.
No, I can't prescribe medication and any opinion I give does not count as an expert opinion under Hungarian law.
